Skipper Course
Preparing individuals for independent vessel management and ensuring the safety of the crew and the vessel during the performance of independent skippering.
Independent skippering
This 2-day course will provide sufficient time for each individual at the helm to test their limits, become confident in their maneuvering, and enhance communication with guests.
NEWLY ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
- Fine maneuvering in marinas,
- independent docking and mooring,
- group discussion about possible mistakes and improvements related to the practise,
- independent sailboat management,
- preparing the vessel for sailing,
- understanding maritime regulations,
- route planning based on weather conditions and guest preferences,
- man overboard rescue,
- basic safety measures and communication with guests,
- effective crew management, communication, and organization on board,
- sailing with a genacker (if desired).
Programme
1st Day
- Fine maneuvering in marinas,
- preparation for docking (preparation of the sailboat and discussion of the appropriate mooring methods),
- side and stern mooring, independent docking and mooring,
- group discussion about possible mistakes and improvements related to docking and maneuvering.
2nd Day
- Independent sailboat management,
- preparing the vessel for sailing,
- understanding maritime regulations,
- route planning based on weather conditions and guest preferences,
- man overboard rescue,
- basic safety measures and communication with guests,
- effective crew management, communication, and organization on board,
- sailing with a geacker (if desired).
